Nottingham Nursery School

Funded by Creative Partnerships, the theme of this project was ‘Pocket Shelters’ – to develop small spaces for individual children or small groups to escape from the outside world and engage in reflective and personal play. We organised building workshops with the children to explore their ideas, working with materials through which they could quickly and easily express their thoughts in three dimensions. With further input from school staff, the most popular structures created in the workshops went on to form the basis of the final permanent structures, which Beeston Jones built and installed.
