DESIGN Beeston Jones have a commitment to consultation and encouraging creative involvement in the design process by the end user; Consultation is the starting point for any design and this can take different forms, from conversation with customers about their needs, through to in-depth structured research, while taking into account the opinions and ideas of the client, staff, public, parents, children etc. Design workshops; When appropriate, participants are brought further into the creative process and design workshops are organised to explore and develop ideas through discussion, drawing and model making.
MANUFACTURE AND INSTALLATION
Beeston Jones oversee the manufacturing and installation process, ensuring the realisation is consistent with the design.
There are many important aspects and approaches to sustainability that Beeston Jones consider when designing in order to make their work as environmentally low impact as possible;
- Materials; where do they come from and how they are produced? Recycled and reclaimed often provide interesting solutions.
- Renovation and reinvention of old play areas; it’s often possible to be creative with existing structures, equipment and landscaping.
- Workforce; Using local trade’s people whenever possible and including traditional craft techniques, such as green oak timber framing or drystone walling.
- Quality and durability of work for a long lifespan.
Fitness for purpose and "ownership" by users is paramount. This reduces the chances of the equipment being misused.
